Tuesday, September 8th Update

Cooper is 9 weeks old! (35 gestation) There weren't many changes today, but we're always happy to have a nice growing day. Cooper gained 10 grams, and still weighs 4 lbs 13 oz. The surgical team is checking in with his growth each day and still planning on his surgery next week. The most exciting moment of the day was when he breastfed for 10 minutes! His sucking and swallowing skills are continuing to improve and we're so proud of him. Tomorrow he has another eye exam, and we're hoping his eyes are continuing to develop. He does have a small amount of ROP, but hopefully his eyes develop correctly and the ROP resolves itself on his own.

There have been many funny (but not funny) moments about no longer being pregnant when my due date is still not for another month. Today I got an email from Buy Buy Baby reminding me to pack my hospital bag for my delivery in five weeks. I just had to laugh because that ship sailed... nine weeks ago. And despite the fact that I had created a spreadsheet when I was 20 weeks along with everything I planned to pack for my delivery, sometimes you just have to call your mom from an ambulance and have her bring your toothbrush to the hospital. Definitely not the way I envisioned things happening! However, perspective is everything. Cooper is doing so well and that's all that matters.

We're so grateful for the continued love and support of so many people. Nine weeks ago our lives took the most unexpected turn, and we're thankful for the goodness and generosity of our wonderful family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Thank you so much, and I hope that someday we can repay the service given to us! We have felt God's hand in every detail and know that He lives and loves us.

Taylor's opinion about this hat: "Just because something is blue and pink doesn't mean it's gender neutral." :) (We ordered some cute masculine hats on Amazon that should be here soon!)
