I'll start with the best news... our boy is gaining weight!! Last night (Sunday) he weighed 1120 grams and tonight he weighed 1180! 1180 grams is almost 2 lbs 10 oz. I never thought sentences like "I'm so happy my baby weighs 2 lbs 10 oz!" would come out of my mouth. Nevertheless, we are thrilled.
Cooper had a good day! His potassium levels have been within the normal range for the last 24 hours. They increased the amount of breast milk he is receiving, and he is tolerating it extremely well. During rounds this morning his doctors discussed hopefully extubating Cooper tomorrow morning (Tuesday) if he continues to do well on the ventilator. Once he's extubated we'll be able to hold him again, so hopefully that happens soon!
I am amazed by how many people are viewing our blog each day! Thank you:) Wherever you are and whatever you may be going through, I hope this quote brings you comfort, like it has for Taylor and me.
"In the gospel of Jesus Christ you have help from both sides of the veil, and you must never forget that. When disappointment and discouragement strike - and they will - you remember and never forget that if our eyes could be opened we would see horses and chariots of fire as far as the eye can see riding at reckless speed to come to our protection. They will always be there, these armies of heaven, in defense of Abraham's seed." - Jeffrey R. Holland
