Sunday, August 2nd Update

Happy Sunday! Cooper is doing well, and had a quiet resting day. He received another unit of blood today (because they are having to draw blood every few hours to monitor his potassium levels), started breast milk feedings again (a small amount), and is still intubated. Overall it was a pretty quiet day in the NICU for Cooper. When we left this evening our nurse hadn't weighed him yet, so we'll get that update tomorrow morning.

Yesterday we found out that when Cooper is 5 pounds 8 ounces he will have surgery to have his ostomy repaired. After surgery, he will not be able to be on breast milk feedings for a little while, but in order to be discharged from the NICU Cooper has to be on full feeds (able to breast feed/take a bottle) and not be on TPN or have a feeding tube. We have quite a ways to go, but our sights are set on getting Cooper to 5 lbs 8 oz as quickly as possible:)

We are aware of many people that were fasting for Cooper today, and we're so grateful! We are truly seeing miracles every day in the NICU. Thank you for praying for and being mindful of our wonderful "Mini Cooper!"

  1. He is so precious and I love seeing you both 'holding' him through his little 'crib'. I'm sure he loves your touch and knows he is loved. Thinking of you all. Love, Aunt Jacque (and Family).
